ADVISORY COUNCILS

Teacher Advisory CouncilThe Teacher Advisory Council (TAC) serves as the eyes and ears of the Superintendent, providing crucial insights, feedback, and questions that are invaluable in advancing Sumter School District. Meeting every other month, the TAC fosters two-way communication between district leadership and teachers, ensuring that teacher perspectives are both heard and considered. The TAC’s role is to advise and support the district’s progress, with ongoing efforts to expand and strengthen its advisory capacity. Meetings with the Superintendent are held for one hour on the Thursday following each regular Board meeting, giving teachers an impactful platform to influence district decisions and initiatives.

Student Advisory CouncilThe Student Advisory Council provides a valuable opportunity for students to engage directly with the Superintendent, sharing their unique perspectives, ideas, and concerns to help shape the future of Sumter School District. Meeting once a year, this council allows students to discuss topics that matter most to them, fostering a collaborative environment where their voices are heard and valued. Through this dialogue, the Student Advisory Council contributes to the district’s continuous improvement by ensuring student needs and experiences are at the heart of district initiatives.
